My ‘Cowrie Collection’ is inspired by a special jar of cowrie shells that my grandmother had collected on family holidays over many years. This jar was passed onto my mother who added to the collection before handing it down to me to continue the tradition.
These shells are so small they often trap grains of sand in the small opening. I’ve replicated these grains of sand using tiny grains of 18ct gold. The shells a cast in solid sterling silver with an oxidized, polished outer surface to bring out the textured detail.
